Using Wood Wicks

Making soy candles using wood wicks - after much testing I found when using wood wicks with soy wax you will need to use two wicks back to back, (double wick) in each container. See the images below.

Below is a list of wood wick sizes and the diameter of the container they are suited to -

• #2 wood wick (double) - 5cm
• #3 wood wick (double) - 7.5cm
• #4 wood wick (double) - 8.9cm
• #5 wood wick (double) - 10 cm
• #7 wood wick (double) - 12.5cm

I have only tried wood wicks with soy wax however the manufacture says they can be used in palm, paraffin and blended paraffin/soy.

Examples -

• 453g Apothecary  jar use double #5 wood wicks
• 226g metro jar  use double #4 wood wicks
• 170g large votive  use double #4 wood wicks

Please remember the wick sizes quoted above are only suggestions and you may need to do a bit of trial and error yourself to make that perfect candle.
